Spain Info
The Treeflights Spain planting site is located at an altitude of roughly 1000 metres above the town of Lanjaron , near Granada on the slopes of Spain’s highest mountain massif, The Sierra Nevada. This beautiful part of Andalucia in southern Spain is known as the Alpuharras or (Little Alps) and is right at the forefront of climate change within Europe.
Andalucia was a stronghold of the Anarchists during the Spanish Civil War and Franco destroyed much of the original forest cover in his attempts to flush out the fighters. This part of the world is increasingly subject to drought as the Sahara attempts to jump the Mediterranean. It therefore needs all the trees it can get to reduce soil erosion, support the wild boar and keep the locals in olive oil and marzipan.
Because of the extreme aridity of the climate here we can only plant here in the winter so while are really happy to have your tree order, understand that if you order your tree in the summer it will generally take a few months before we can get it in the ground.
We can plant - olive, almond, sweet chestnut or cherry trees on this site.
